A woman is to go on trial next year charged with the attempted murder of a man stabbed in Bootle.

Samaya Folksman, 25, is alleged to have tried to kill Luke Parry, 29, on November 6 this year.

Folksman, of St Christopher’s Avenue, Bootle, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court via video link from prison.

The defendant spoke only to confirm her personal details and enter her pleas.

Folksman pleaded guilty to an alternative charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

However, Gerald Paxter, prosecuting, said this was not accepted by the Crown Prosecution Service.

Judge David Aubrey, QC, said Folksman will stand trial accused of the more serious offence of attempted murder next year.

The judge said a pre-trial review will be held on February 19 and a trial, estimated to last two days, on May 3.

Judge Aubrey remanded Folksman in custody.
