A man accused of an arson attack which saw an Army bomb squad called out to Wavertree is to face trial.
Military bomb disposal experts descended on Goswell Street at around 10.50pm on September 22 last year.
Police had attended the scene after a small fire – thought to have been caused by an improvised explosive device – damaged the front door of a home.
Officers called in the Army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team, who removed it and made the area secure. No-one was injured in the incident.
Daniel Grant, 28, of Somerton Street, Wavertree, is charged with arson with intent to endanger life and arson reckless as to whether life is endangered.
The defendant appeared at Liverpool Crown Court this afternoon where he pleaded not guilty to both charges.
Grant spoke only to confirm his personal details and enter his pleas.
The court heard a trial estimated to last two days will be held on May 5 next year.
Judge David Aubrey, QC, remanded Grant on bail.
