A teenager cleared of raping a 17-year-old girl and assaulting a boy in Wirral is now facing sentence for separate child sex offences.

Luke Patten, 19, was acquitted of two counts of rape, one of sexual assault and assault causing actual bodily harm following a trial at Liverpool Crown Court.

Patten, of Bridle Road, Eastham, had admitted knocking out the woman’s boyfriend during an incident in the early hours of March 29 this year.

But he denied headbutting and punching another male, before twice raping the woman and sexually assaulting her.

Patten accepted that he had sex with the woman, but told the court it was entirely consensual.

A jury took just over two hours of deliberations to return its not guilty verdict following a seven-day trial.

Patten is to be sentenced for the assault on the boyfriend next month.

It can now be published that along with this attack, Patten is to be sentenced for an offence of sexual activity with a child under the age of 16.

He has admitted this charge, along with making and distributing an indecent photograph of a child, which relate to a separate incident involving a 15-year-old girl last year.

Judge Steven Everett said Patten would be sentenced for the remaining offences on November 6.
